Our lunar rover

We had a crazy challenge to build a lunar rover out of Lego. It needed wheels, it needed a flat surface and it a way to pick up rocks. And it was brilliant. When we finished it, we had to take a movie of it in action. By Riley and Leo.

My lunar rover!!!!!!

My lunar rover has 3 parts-the drivers cabin which has got a big cannon on top, a rock carrying trailer and a power source trailer. It fuels up on sausages!!! The fuel tank is 9 meters tall and 1 kilometre wide it can go around the moon 2,000 times without stopping until it runs out of fuel. It is the size of a digger, it has to have a humongous trailer to carry it to NASA(which sent Neil Armstrong and 2 other people to be the first ever people to step on the moon).

Lunar Rovers

Some children have been making lunar rovers that can pick up moon rocks, after reading an advertisement from NASA asking for help! Using the Lego Movie Maker app, the children filmed their lunar rovers in action. Here are some of the finished movies:

Well done, everyone! I wonder what else you would like to explore, create or investigate? Please leave a comment below to tell us.

Daily 5 in an MLE

See how we do Daily 5 in a Modern Learning Environment (MLE). Our goal is self-management, and to show we are great self-managers we fill in a daily timetable and choose when we complete our Daily 5 choices as well as fitness time. It's great having different spaces to work in.

Wonderings using Lego Movie Maker

Here is a quick clip to help you learn to use the Lego Movie Maker app. We can't wait to see your lunar rovers in action, children!

Amazing Spider Art

Over the last 6 weeks we have been designing and constructing spiders from chicken wire and plaster of paris bandaging.  It has taken a lot of effort and time but the results are awesome!
Look at some of our creations in the photos below.

Shaping the chicken wire was a bit tricky!

Adding the legs using wire and pipe cleaners.
