The new playground by William Gant

Today I went to the opening of the climbing frame. It looked really cool and we got to play on it. First there was pushing and shoving. I was jumping up and down. It was really big up there. It felt dangerous and wobbly but there was a great view. The rope was red. The pole was yellow. People were rushing, climbing, pushing, shoving, everything. I loved it! My friend Noah was the first one to get to the top. I call the tower the Halswell Tower.

Our new playground by Annabel Diprose

Yesterday our new playground opened. Yay! When we were all outside Mr Burn did a speech. Then Jacky from the school PTA came to the front to cut the danger ribbon. Once the danger ribbon was cut the Year 3's raced on with a charging rage. There was swinging, rushing, climbing, excitement, everything. When I got on I could feel the breeze of the trees in the wind. I could hear children laughing with happiness. I could see the top of the Orongomai building from up there. I love our new playground.

Our new playground by Melissa Cooke

Yay! Our new playground opened today. Now we get to play on it. I felt anxious when I was on it for the first time, climbing nervously up and up. Halfway there I sprang off my feet into the air. I was scared I was going to fall off but I landed safely back on the spider's web. Then I leapt up to the top as fast as a cheetah. As soon as I knew it I was up the top. I felt like a toddler giant. I saw the rain racing down towards us. It was like ants crawling down to the finish line on the wet and slippery ground. I felt on top of the world up on the humongous spider web. When I started to descend I wondered how to get down so I dropped to the wet ground with all those ants. "Ow!" I shouted as I landed on my knees. That was a fun playground. Maybe I can play on it again soon.

The Epic Game of Soccer by Anton Hawes

Today it was an ordinary day but after morning tea we ran over to Quarry View. "Oh my gosh!" I shouted when I heard we were playing awesome soccer. Our unfamiliar coach Xavier came here to teach us soccer. So everyone split into teams of three. Then Xavier took us to the goals and TWOOOO! went the whistle and off we ran. I sprinted for the ball. To me it felt like 2D Chinese action movies. Suddenly the ball came at me like a fast kangaroo so I kicked furiously. "Goal!" I shouted. Then Jack, Jack and Kaleb came along. I was tired but I was 'NED'. Then bang, crash, wallop I fell over but I sprinted, puffed, tripped, jumped, everything. The slippery sheep paddock was no match for some qualifying soccer players. I felt really really full of beans!

Our New Playground by Caitlin Moore

On Wednesday we were sitting on the mat and Mr Topham came in and exclaimed it was time to open the new playground! So we all went outside and stood next to the playground! So we all went outside and stood next to the playground excitedly. He introduced the PTA to the year 3/4s so they could cut the danger ribbon. So then all the year three children sprinted across the squashy mats to the gigantic playground and started climbing all over it. They looked like anxious ants on an ant farm. I didn't feel like an ant though, I felt like a bird that has just landed from the clear blue sky. I could feel the wind rotating around me. I felt like I needed to get off because it was way too crowded, so I nervously climbed off. Then the teacher asked all of us to sit under the spider web. So I quickly crawled under it. It looked like an upside-down bird's eye view. Then I crawled back out to get morning tea and that was the opening ending.

Farewell and Good Luck Clara- we will miss you!!

Clara and her family are sadly leaving NZ to move back to Denmark. We will miss Clara and her bright and bubbly personality, her beautiful artwork and clever stories.

To say farewell..on Wednesday we had a shared lunch, (thank you for your lovely homemade food items parents) and then on Friday a few of the girls said a few lovely words and gave Clara a lovely card with photos signed by T24 and a large poster. The children and Clara were clearly very sad to say farewell to each other, but we shall keep in touch with letters, emails and hopefully a Skype session soon. Safe travels Clara, we hope you have a wonderful holiday in Bali on your way!!

And a few more photos from Friday 'Wonderings'

Friday 'Wonderings' in Orongomai

Our team assembly certificates for being fantastic ACTIVE achievers!

Apologies as these photos are from a few weeks ago now, but these children deserve to have their photo on our blog for their hard work and contributions as learners and team players, well done!
